How to Tow a Tesla or EV Safely in San Antonio

Short answer: Flatbed only. No exceptions. Wheel-lift towing an EV damages the motor, voids the warranty, and can cost $10,000+ to repair.
EV Towing Rules
- Flatbed only — all four wheels must be off the ground
- Transport mode — put Tesla in transport mode before loading (Settings → Service → Towing)
- Wheel nets only — no straps touching body panels
- Never tow with wheels spinning — regenerative braking system damage
- Dead EV — if completely at 0%, may need jump to 12V aux to unlock wheels first
Common Mistakes
- Accepting wheel-lift because “it’s just a short distance” — still causes damage
- Not putting in transport mode — brakes can engage
